Lonestar Mensa Regional Gatherings

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to the hotel?

If you are driving, check out Wingate by Wyndham, Round Rock for a map and driving directions.

If you flying, you can take Super Shuttle.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever makes you comfortable - jeans and t-shirts are fine, or you can dress up more if you'd like. We encourage costumes for the dance - the theme is to dress as your favorite medical professional or miracle worker.

What should I bring?

You won't need hair dryers or irons or coffee makers - the hotel provides them in every room. If you wish to check your email, the hotel has free high speed internet access.

When Does Registration open?

Registration will be open at 5:00 on Friday afternoon on the second floor of the Williamson Conference Center, and will remain open until about 10pm. It will re-open about 8am Friday and Saturday mornings, remaining open until 1pm. After that, or if you don't see anyone at the registration table, check with anyone on the committee. We expect people will arrive at all hours, and packets and registration will be available, but outside of peak arrival hours the table may not be staffed.

What if this is my first RG?

If this is your first RG ever, relax! Everyone was new once. Most anyone wearing an RG badge will be glad to help you find Registration, and the people there will be happy to help you with the rest. We'll have "My First Time" stickers available for your badge if you would like to wear one.

What's this I hear about hugging?

As is a tradition at many Gatherings, we will have some way to indicate whether or not you wish to be hugged available at registration. Green (dots, smiley faces, etc) indicates that you're happy to be hugged, while red (dots, smiley faces, etc) indicates that you don't want to be hugged. Yellow dots traditionally mean "ask first".

How do I help?

Volunteering is a great way to spend an hour or two - you'll meet more people, and you'll help make the RG better for everyone. We'll need volunteers for hospitality, for speaker assistants, and for registration. If you'd like more information, or want to sign up, contact John Neemidge. You can also indicate your willingness to help by putting an "I'll Help" sticker on your badge.
